August 2010 launched Member website Portal to productive tools and information via national campaign to over 5,000 industry specifiers.  Launch kickoff included a limited FREE Class A Owner (End User) and Engineer membership with Member Portal access plus Laminate Certification Manual download.

June 2010 5th Annual Board of Advisors meeting held at Camp Dresser McKee in Cambridge, MA.

May 2010 Holtec completes Laminate Certification for one (1) tank on South Windsor Connecticut project as member Consultant performing Certification work on behalf of FRPI.

March 2010 Corrosion Probe completes Laminate Certification for thirty-eight (38) tanks on Croton New York project after over three (3) years involvement as member Consultant performing Certification work on behalf of FRPI.

February 2010 5th Industry Consultant, Holtec, joins FRPI through membership.

January 2010 “Asset Management Starts with Initial Equipment Specifications” paper presented at New England Water Environment Association conference in Boston, MA.  This paper presented case histories of typical premature fiberglass equipment failures, root causes and relative corrective action costs.  Emphasis was placed on the variability of fiberglass equipment quality, critical nature of thorough enforceable specifications and role FRPI plays in Reliability Centered Maintenance programs through new equipment specifications.

October 2009 Board of Advisors ships latest CD version of Laminate Certification Manual FREE of charge to twelve (12) candidate FRP Manufacturers who demonstrated interest in Certification.  Budget pricing for Laminating Process and Laminate Certification was also communicated to support Engineer specifications requiring FRPI Certification.

By October 2009 twenty-seven (27) FRPI Certification presentations reached 351 specifiers in the Chemical Process Industry throughout the Gulf Coast of America.

August 2009 Maverick Applied Science completes Laminate Certification for ductwork on second phase of Mansfield Massachusetts project as member Consultant performing Certification work on behalf of FRPI.

April 2009 “A Practical Look at ASME RTP-1 Fifteen Years Later” paper presented at the joint American Composites Manufacturer’s Association and National Association of Corrosion Engineers conference in Las Vegas, NV.  This paper presented the outstanding accomplishments of the ASME RTP-1 committee, identified industry challenges with specification compliance and material quality verification plus positioned FRPI Certification as a supplement to this industry standard.

January and February 2009 First CD version of Laminate Certification Manual was published and distributed to Class A Owner (End User) and Engineer member candidates at New England and New York Water Environment Association conferences.

January 2009 published SB01 Level I Convection Oven and SB02 Level II Forced Hot Air Engineered Post-Cure Specification Bulletin updates reflecting process improvements.

November 2008 published SP9000 Laminating Process and SP9100 Laminate Certification Standard Practice updates reflecting process improvements.

March 2008 Justin completes Field Installation Inspection requirement and forwards certificate for FRPI Laminate Certification to Engineer for both City of Brockton, MA and City of Concord, MA projects.

March 2008 positioned FRPI mission amongst attendees at joint American Composite Manufacturer’s Association, National Association of Corrosion Engineers and University of Alabama at Birmingham conference in Birmingham Alabama.

January 2008 “Care and Feeding of My Sodium Hypochlorite Storage Facility” paper presented at New England Water Environment Association conference in Boston, MA.  This paper presented the signs of failure for fiberglass and thermoset plastic materials, root causes, a cost of prevention versus cost of cure life cycle study covering dozens of cases and suggested practices for asset management.


November 2007 Justin Tanks released by FRPI, pending Engineer approval, to ship balance of tanks on Brockton, MA WWTF Upgrade Phase 2 project.

October 2007 “Corrosion Problems are Solved with Fiberglass that is Tougher Than Ever” paper presented at Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industries conference in Jacksonville, FL.  This paper presented the evolution and mechanics of FRPI’s Certification programs as a response to industry’s need for quality verification.  These FRPI programs were compared to other organizations serving different industry needs in a similar way.

October 2007 positioned FRPI mission amongst attendees at American Composite Manufacturer’s Association annual composites conference in Tampa Florida.

September 2007 6th FRPI Certification project started for thirty-eight (38) tanks by An-Cor and Skanska-Tully JV, including: fourteen (14) 12’ Coagulant, four (4) 10’ Coagulant Aid, eight (8) 12’ Sodium Hypochlorite Bulk, four (4) 7’ Sodium Hypochlorite Pre-filter Feed Day, four (4) 5.5’ Sodium Hypochlorite Post-filter Feed Day and four (4) 5’ UV Cleaning System Waste tanks for New York City DEP Croton WTP project.

March 2007 “Iron Eating Bacteria is No Challenge for Quality FRP Ductwork” paper presented at National Association of Corrosion Engineers conference in Nashville, TN.  This paper presents the corrosion challenges faced plus includes key system specifications covering materials, equipment and application design, installation procedures plus FRPI quality administration requirements that led to this projects success.

January 2007 New England Water Environment Association sponsors and the South Essex Sewerage District in Salem Massachusetts hosts a tour showcasing the 1st FRPI Certified Duct project.

January 2007  Joint 2 day exhibit at New England Water Environment Association Conference in Boston, MA, with Tech Environmental.

September 2006  2nd FRPI Certification project completed: 1,300’ round and rectangular ductwork for South Essex Sewerage District in Salem, MA by An-Cor Industrial Plastics, Methuen Construction and Enterprise Equipment Company.
 
August 2006  5th FRPI Certification project started: two (2) 7’ Alum and two (2) 5’ Sodium Hydroxide tanks for City of Concord in Concord, MA by Justin Tanks and Waterline Industries.
 
August 2006  4th FRPI Certification project started: eight (8) Dewatering Polymer tanks ranging in size from 6’ through 9’ diameter for City of Brockton in Brockton, MA by Justin Tanks, Walsh Construction and Total Mechanical.
 
July 2006  3rd FRPI Certification project started: 6” through 36” diameter ductwork for City of Attleboro in Attleboro, MA by ATS and Methuen Construction.
 
June 2006  Croton, NY project out for bid requiring ASME RTP-1 Stamp and FRPI Certified Laminates for thirty-eight (38) tanks.
 
June 2006  “FRP 101 and Laminate Certification” paper authored with and presented by Tech Environmental at NYWEA/NEWEA conference in Mystic, CT.
 
June 2006  Cedar Creek Scrubber rehabilitation project in Long Island, NY, in purchase stage requires FRPI member Industry Consultant for inspection work.

November 2005  With first hand experience specifying and going through the FRPI Certification process, the Board of Advisors unanimously voted on acceptance of the FRPI Laminate Certification Manual as a “Reviewed and Accepted” document.  This initial document will be called the 2004 Edition.

November 2005  Board of Advisors voted in at the organizations 1st organizational meeting, including: CDM, Hazen and Sawyer, M&E, Tech Environmental, South Essex Sewerage District, Upper Blackstone WPAD, An-Cor Industrial Plastics, Justin Tanks and Troy Manufacturing Canada.
  
November 2005  1st seminar held at the Marriott in Newton, MA, covering: FRP basics, laminate design, FRP standards review, why specify certification plus how to specify and administer certification.  Lunch was provided with a guest speaker from the South Essex Sewerage District who spoke to the need for FRPI quality administration.
  
September 2005  2nd and 3rd Industry Consultants, Maverick Applied Science and Corrosion Resistant Composites, join FRPI through membership.
  
August 2005  IRS Issued determination letter, FRPI recognized as tax exempt non-profit.
  
July 2005  3rd Manufacturer Laminating Process Certified at Troy Manufacturing Canada.
  
January 2005  Published new Laminate Specifications for Dual Resin System laminates at the request of the AECOM Hazen and Sawyer Joint Venture for the NYC DEP Croton project.  The Structural Layer resin was upgraded to Brominated Bis-A Epoxy VE resin allowing a Class I Flame Spread rating of „T 25, while maintaining an FDA acceptable Bis-A resin for the Corrosion Barrier.  New specifications included:  LS601 Laminates with One (1) C-Glass Veil, LS621 Laminates with One (1) Synthetic Polyester Veil, and LS2021 Laminates having multi Veils intended for Sodium Hypochlorite service.

January 2005  1st FRPI Certification project completed: three (3) 10’ Sodium Hypochlorite and two (2) 9’ Sodium Bisulfite tanks for Upper Blackstone WPAD in Millbury, MA, by An-Cor Industrial Plastics and Walsh Construction.
  
By June 2004  Eighteen (18) FRPI Certification presentations reached 122 Specifiers.
  
May 2004  FRPI sends correspondence to ASME RTP-1 Committee in response to questions raised regarding clarification of FRPI’s mission.
  
March 2004  “Laminate Certification, A New Industry Quality Control Method for FRP” paper presented at NACE conference in New Orleans, LA.
